They have the opportunity at the fair to present their products and conclude deals. To this day, the primary raison d’ tre of Frankfurt Book Fair is to bring together publishers, agents, booksellers, librarians, scholars, illustrators, translators and authors. In the fifteenth century, Johannes Gutenberg revolutionized book printing in Mainz, just a few kilometres away from Frankfurt, after which the book printers Johannes Fust, Peter Schöffer and Konrad Henckis made Frankfurt the main hub for the book publishing trade. The book fair has been firmly established in Frankfurt since 1949, but in fact dates back more than 500 years. It is regarded as the mega event of the international publishing industry. 7,100 international exhibitors, more than 4,000 events in five days and exhibition halls full of books: this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair will once again bring more than 270,000 visitors to this city on the banks of the Main. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It has been waiting for them to arrive and amidst the aurora and the turnings of their own minds, they must figure out a way to get through the dark arctic winter. ![]() But are they alone? The story picks up right where Book Four left off, with the school under attack from the Grand Murder Party. ![]() It ends up feeling disingenuous and rushed. One of my biggest problems with romances is when the author realizes they're almost at their word count, then try to finish everything up in a neat little bow in a single chapter. This author did not phone it in, even a little bit. I love that these books continued to surprise me, even until the very end. This is a massive book, a great send off to fantastic characters. I flew through the first four books, only to realize that the last in the series still had not come out yet. I have been waiting for this book to come out for what feels like forever. ![]() ***This review contains mild spoilers, mostly for previous books in the series. ![]() 7/5/2023 0 Comments Bunnies wolfie![]() Issues every child should certainly be made aware of. Wolfie the Bunny by Ame Dyckman may look, at first glance of the cover, like a lupine variation on that bunny suit worn by Ralphie in A Christmas Story but inside you will instead find a delightful tale of sibling rivalry as well as a cautionary tale of the dangers that come when shopping at a Brooklyn co-op. It was then with great joy that I read one of the finest the other day. Plenty of children’s books have addressed this issue, to varying degrees of success. Unsurprisingly a low burn (or, in other cases, epic) rivalry erupts. They’re just tooling along, enjoying the natural bliss that comes with being the one and only star in their parents’ firmament when BLAMMO! A squalling person of inadequate size is there, hogging the attention. Not every child views the imposition of a new sibling as an interloper, but a fair number of them do. ![]() ![]() ![]() And in the highest peaks of the Dragona's Teeth, in the ancient castle Fangdred, the sorcerer called Varthlokkur uses his arts to spy on the world at large, observing the puppet strings that control kings and empires alike, waiting. I still don’t think she would have worked well as a standalone novel (whereas Sasha and Riley were both developed well enough to succeed at that). I could relate to Sasha with all her stress levels and Riley as the brash academic, but this bubbly, sweet 2and excited mermaid just didn’t exhibit any signs of who I identify as. ![]() Since she came in to the first novel, I thought Annika was a bit not all right in the head. I wasn’t too excited for this part of the trilogy. For she has forged a dangerous new weapon.
